The Power of Prevention
Youth Education Initiatives
Community members are invited to get involved with the Teen Advocacy Group (TAG), made up of eighth-grade and high school students from the Lee’s Summit area. Through this program, youth are empowered to lead activities and advocate for a healthier, more supportive community. Lee’s Summit CARES also offers a welcoming space for community members to come together and have meaningful conversations about issues affecting young people and their families.
Community Outreach Teams
Prevention extends beyond the classroom. We support dedicated outreach teams who engage directly with local neighborhoods, offering guidance, resources, and a compassionate presence. By building trust on the ground, these professionals establish a lifeline for families, intercepting potential struggles and strengthening the community from within.

The Mayor’s Character Breakfast plays an important role by highlighting the values that help build a strong community. This year’s theme, “Reflections on Character,” encourages attendees to pause, celebrate, and think about the principles that shape Lee’s Summit. The event also serves as a fundraiser supporting Lee’s Summit CARES in its mission to prevent youth substance use and violence, strengthen parenting, and promote positive character and mental well-being.
